Member Services
The AKA is the spokesperson of its members; it represents and champions their interests in negotiations with the media, government bodies, parliament, the senate and other institutions. It concurrently works with professional organizations, especially the Czech Council for Advertising Standards in matters of self-regulation and the Czech Association for Branded Products, which represents leading clients of communications and advertising agencies.
The AKA provides consulting services concerning legal, financial and contractual practices. Via its arbitration commission, it helps resolve disputes between member agencies. It supports professional training and organizes competitions with the aim of raising the bar for commercial communications. Playing a very important role in these activities is the AKA’s membership in the EACA (European Association of Communications Agencies) which allows it to draw on knowledge from countries where commercial communications have a long tradition and rest on high ethical standards. The AKA is the guarantor of professional tuition of commercial communications at the Economic University in Prague, with which it has been working since 1995.
The AKA is a founding member of the Association of Communications and Media Organizations (SKMO), which coordinates media surveys in the Czech Republic. The AKA contributes to financing these surveys, which are a fundamental tool for planning media campaigns. The AKA is also a founding member of the Czech ABC (Audit Bureau of Circulation). The AKA’s permanent “Media” working section continuously monitors trends on the Czech media market and the informative value of data used by clients to decide whether to invest in commercial communications.
For financing the development of services provided to members, the AKA founded in 1996 a commercial subsidiary, ARA Services s.r.o. (ARA’S), which operates a courier services under the brand Fast Arrows and other services.
AKA organises or co-organises the key competitions of local advertising industry: EFFIE Awards for the most effective campaigns, Nutcracker/Louskáček for the most creative work (partnered with the Czech Art Directors Club), Czech Direct&Promo (partnered with ADMAZ) for the best below the line campaigns, Agency of the year for the overall agency performance and achievements (partnered with the publishing house Mladá fronta and the weekly magazíne Strategie), BoB for the most rewarded creative individuals, Young Lions for the best creative teams under 28
AKA was appointed by international advertising festivals Golden Drum, Clio, The One Show and EuroEffie as their ambasador on the czech market to promote their annual call for entries, facilitates the contact with local agencies and holds the reel showing or an exhibition of rewarded campaignes.
AKA members are provided with free legal consultation every Wednesday morning at AKA’s headquarters. Legal Consultancy is provided by AKA’s contractual partner for legal matters JUDr. Filip Winter, a member of the European Advertising Lawyers Association (EALA). He has been involved for many years with the legal aspects of commercial communications and copyright law, from unfair competition, personal and consumer protection to legislation regulating advertising, operating radio and television broadcasting, the press and other areas.
AKA provides a custody to and legal protection of creative concepts ( Copy Clearing)
Consultancy regarding the remuneration of agencies and financial relations with clients, members are provided by AKA’s executive director, Jiří Janoušek who was six years Client Services Director at MARK/BBDO. As Deputy Managing Director of Euro RSCG Prague he was responsible for all production activities and contractor agreements.
Tax Consultancy is provided to members at a discounted rate by AKA’s contractual partner, Ing. Havránek, who, having gained experience from working for several leading ATL, BTL and media agencies, knows the ins and outs of agency operations and their tax concerns.
