Czech Publishers Association (UVDT)

The Czech Publishers Association (UVDT) is an association of entrepreneurs and employers operating in the field of publishing periodicals. It is a member of the World Association of Newspapers (WAN), the International Federation of the Periodical Press (FIPP) and the European Federation of Magazine Publishers (FAEP), and is an associate member of the Alliance of Independent Press Councils of Europe (AIPCE). The UVDT was founded in 1990 as an association of publishers of five dailies with the name Association of Publishers of the Daily Press. Two years later, full membership was also introduced for magazine publishers, and in 1995 the name was abbreviated to the Publishers Association while the UVDT logo was kept.

Association of Television Organizations (ATO)

The Association of Television Organizations (ATO) was founded on March 1, 1997 and is a special interest association of legal entities. Its members are Czech Television, Česká nezávislá televizní společnost, spol. s r.o. (Czech Independent Television Company) and Prima Plus, a.s. The main reason for the ATO’s founding is to coordinate peoplemeter surveying with its organizer, Taylor Nelson Sofres Media. The electronic measurement of TV audiences in the Czech Republic using the peoplemeter method is conducted based on a contract concluded with the organizer, and its results are used not only by the main users, but also by entities operating on the advertising and media market. The peoplemeter project was officially launched on June 1, 1997. To become an ATO member, you must be a legal entity that produces television shows and engages in television broadcasting.

Internet Advertising Association (SPIR)

The Internet Advertising Association’s (SPIR) main task is to support and advance the Internet as a full-fledged and long-term medium. The founding members are six major companies that operate in internet advertising, we anticipate and welcome many new members from the ranks of internet media and advertisers in the near future. The SPIR’s main task is to become the submitter and guarantor of unified monitoring of internet visitation. This unified monitoring will serve as a source of basic common data about internet visitation in the Czech Republic (“one currency”) and we believe that it be of great importance for stabilizing the internet advertising market.

Advertising Standards Council (RPR)

The Advertising Standards Council (RPR) was founded in August 1994 by advertisers, agencies and media based on the model of advanced European countries as the first Eastern European advertising self-regulation organization for achieving honorable, decent, legal and truthful advertising in the Czech Republic. We deem self-regulation of advertising as non-interference by the state in the area of advertising and its regulation by the advertising industry itself. Self-regulation is a flexible, quickly adapting tool, reflecting the development and changes on the advertising market. The Council currently has 19 members, who compose the General Assembly.

Association of Czech Advertising Agencies and Marketing Communication (ACRA M.K.)

The Association of Czech Advertising Agencies and Marketing Communication (ACRA M.K.) is a voluntary, non-political association of natural persons and legal entities engaged in advertising and marketing services. The ACRA M.K. is the only professional organization that has associated only Czech advertising agencies since its founding in 1992. The ACRA M.K. is a member of the Advertising Standards Council (RPR). Its members are required to respect both the general provisions and the Code of Advertising Practice and its ethical standards. The ACRA M.K. is a member of the Czech Chamber of Commerce. Since its founding, the Association’s main goal has been to improve the professional standard of Czech advertising and other activities within marketing communication. It conducts activities to push for the highest level of professionalism in its members’ activities and endeavors to promote the positive image of advertising with the Czech public. It protects the professional interests of its members, lobbies for them and helps to create a professional platform for Czech advertising agencies.

Czech Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC CR)

In the Czech Republic, the verification of circulation of publications is secured by the Audit Bureau of Circulations - Czech Republic (ABC CR). The ABC CR is a member of the International Federation of Audit Bureaux of Circulations (IF ABC). Members of this federation are bound by statute to adhere to international standards in publishing verified data. Verification of circulation of publications has been conducted in the Czech Republic since March 1993, when this service was initially provided, both methodically and organizationally, by the UVDT. Since January 1, 1997, the ABC CR, a federation of legal entities, has provided for the publication of circulations of publications in full scope. The ABC CR is a non-profit organization with tripartite representation of publishers (Czech Publishers Association –UVDT), advertising agencies (Association of Communications Agencies – AKA) and advertisers (Czech Association for Branded Products – CSZV).

Association of Market Research Agencies (SIMAR)

The Association of Market Research Agencies (SIMAR) is a selective, non-profit association of leading market research and public opinion polling agencies operating the Czech Republic. SIMAR devotes itself above all to improving the quality of services provided by member agencies. It attends to the thorough adherence to its own ethical and methodological standards of market research and public opinion polling, which are based on ESOMAR guidelines. It audits compliance with these standards and regularly publishes the results. SIMAR provides clients of its members and market research users a guarantee of quality of research and polls conducted by SIMAR members.

Association of Private Broadcasters (APSV)

The Association of Private Broadcasters (APSV) was founded in Cheb on March 23, 1992 by 19 broadcasters who started broadcasting during the course of 1991 on the basis of “experimental licenses.” The APSV CR is an association of legal entities and natural persons, and organization with voluntary membership and the principle of selectiveness. The APSV associates otherwise competing entities for the purpose of a joint approach in negotiations with state administrative bodies (The Czech Radio and Television Broadcasting Council, Parliamentary commissions and committees, Czech Telecommunications Office), České radiokomunikace a.s., copyright protection organizations (OSA, Intergram), European structures linked with broadcasting, foundations and funds. The APSV is an important information and promotional base in the area of private broadcasting.

The APSV organizes trainings, seminars and workshops. In the Czech Republic there are just two commercial radio stations that have rejected membership. Any legal entity or natural person incorporated in the commercial register, who meets the following criteria can be a member:

Association of Public Relations Agencies (APRA)

The Association of Public Relations Agencies (APRA) associates public relations agencies with the aim of bringing private and public interests into accord, contributing to understanding between people, groups and institutions, and endeavoring to harmonize between various opinions and approaches. The APRA is a member of the International Communications Consultancy Organization (ICCO).

Audiovisual Producers Association (APA)

The Audiovisual Producers Association (APA) was founded in 1994 and associates producers and production companies from the Czech film industry, as well as the film service and advertising industries. The APA main activity is to protect and advocate the interests of producers, to negotiate with professional unions, copyright protection organizations or state administrative bodies. The APA also cooperates on solving legal and tax issues relating to film production and participates in creating industry-related legislation. The APA is a member of the international producers organizations FIAPF and CFP-E. The FIAPF associates film producers associations, while the CFP-E is the European federation for commercial film producers.

Direct Marketing and Mail Order Business Association (ADMAZ)

The Direct Marketing and Mail Order Business Association (ADMAZ) is a voluntary professional association of entrepreneurs, legal entities and natural persons, engaged in direct marketing services and the mail order business. ADMAZ’s chief goals and activities consist in developing direct marketing and reputable mail order business, standing up for the professional interests of its members, adopting and issuing a code of ethics for direct marketing and the mail order business, representing members in meetings with state administrative bodies and other organizations, organizing common activities for the needs of its members, networking and exchanging experiences between members while respecting their independence in economic competition, joint professional promotion, and providing professional consulting services. The association currently has 32 members.

Czech Association for Branded Products (CSZV)

The Czech Association for Branded Products (CSZV) was founded on June 10, 1993. CSZV members can be either companies incorporated in a commercial register administered by a commercial court in the Czech Republic and producing branded products in the Czech Republic or exclusive representatives of foreign producers whose products are protected by trademark in the Czech Republic and who do not have their own manufacturing operations in the Czech Republic. The association’s primary mission is to protect and support common interests of producers of branded products in areas that influence production, market launches, distribution and sales of branded products in Czech Republic.

Association 3-Dimensional Advertising (A3DR)

The Association 3-Dimensional Advertising (A3DR) was established in January, 1997 as an association of companies, which operate in the field of 3-dimensional advertising in the Czech Republic. The A3DR’s primary goal is to improve the quality and heighten the professionalism of services and to promote greater visibility of producers and providers of these services. The A3DR also seeks to present its activities and those of its members outwardly and to build a positive impact for clients; to present common interests of members to mass media; training and informative and expert activities for clients; concentrate and internal monitoring of information about unsound companies and a joint approach to such enterprises; organizing or participating in professional events and trade fairs; support utilizing the potential of Czech producers for the needs of 3DR; cooperation with foreign organizations for 3-dimenstional advertising. From the long-term perspective, we want to change advertisers’ view of 3-dimensional advertising to below-the-line advertising activity, for the turnover achieved clearly places our field among the rest of the full-fledged components of the marketing mix.

Association of Outdoor Advertising (AVR)

The Association of Outdoor Advertising (AVR) was founded in March 1993, i.e., at a time when the wave of founding outdoor advertising companies was climaxing. The growth in the number of companies triggered the need to establish a socio-professional association, which would arch over, represent and defend the common interests of its members. After the first years of its existence, which were marked by regular children’s illnesses, in February 1998 both the association’s membership base and its management underwent substantial changes.
